“There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
~Anais Nin~
The wisteria is blooming in the side yard and a lot is happening in the garden. Kenny spends hours and hours there after he gets off work…..
tending,
pruning,
raking,
digging,
mulching,
planting,
moving.
It’s love, it has to be, for someone to spend that much time and effort.
Making things of beauty takes
time,
diligence,
commitment.
I feel the same way about making rugs. Does it bother me that it’s a slow process? I think not. Watching a rug come together,
from dyeing the wool,
drawing out the pattern,
sorting through the wools to pick colors that make you smile,
pulling up loops,
sewing on binding,
….it’s kind of the same….
in the end you wind up with something beautiful.
Something for your home that is uniquely you.
Great words of WISDOM tammy. The lilacs are so tantalizing. Count yourself lucky that your husband love to make things pretty in the garden. I have to do it all pretty much by myself except when heavy equipment is necessary to bring me some composed manure. JB
ReplyDeleteI meant composted manure

ReplyDeleteOh! I am anxious to smell the lilacs. If it doesn't start to warm up in northern Ohio soon, we will have quite a wait!

Oh.... we're both lucky in that respect. As I write Jim is outside planting flowers. And, you know I agree with you about the creative process of hooking. It comes together so slowly, and the process is so meditative. It's good for the mind and soul!
