Final coat

If you follow my blog, you’ll remember that Wednesday I had a bit of a “meltdown” about the silver painted…..trying to paint the silver wall.  It’s been a roller coaster ride for sure.

I sent pictures of the “stripy-mosaic” wall to Chris, the “paint angel” that I ran into at Home Depot when I was buying the paint.  Low and behold he came through for me again…..he e-mailed me back and told me to use the 4” roller and make small multi-directional strokes and to feather them and to give him a call and he’s come out and show me his technique.

Here is his WEBSITE…..what beautiful work!

This is a sky scene with clouds that he painted on a ceiling….

So, I drug my paint back out and got to work……here is the result….just what we were looking for….we’re both so happy with it….it looks like rubbed silver now instead of a “bad faux job”…..you know what I mean….when you go into a house and you see a wall and think “yup, they tried to faux paint their wall”.

Now we just have to decide on furniture and the color to put on the other 3 walls.

Here are more color combinations I’m looking at…..this is the part of redecorating that I DON’T like……SOOOO many options!

I’m still in love with the idea of the red couch or red chaise, but not sure how it would look by the red/burgundy windows….I know those are staying in the room because we both love them….so maybe a chocolate brown leather couch under the church windows and then the red chaise on the other side of the room….I love the DRAMA in this photo, but it’s also rather earthy…

But then I’m also drawn to this cheerful color scheme with the red and that light lime color….very cheerful, but not sure it goes with the “silver wall”….

We will most likely go with something more earthy, just because our entire house has a more earthy/organic vibe to it.  We’ve also been looking at some of the paint colors from Restoration Hardware…..

I’m leaning towards “pumice”

Or perhaps “pale silver”

or “silver sage”

Any ideas?

  1. What a difference that made in your wall. I love it! Sorry I can't help with any other suggestions. I have a hard time decorating my own home. Never can make up my mind.

  4. Oh, Tammy ~ the new paint finish does look better than the 'faux' finish ~ nice and soft. If you look at the pictures on my blog of the bedroom at our condo (the one with the rabbit rug) that is Restoration Hardware's silver sage on the walls ~ I love that color!
