Yay, it's Friday! This week has seemed long in some ways and short in others. I loved having some extra time off from work to revel in the joys of snow, but the days that I did go to work seemed LONG this week.....I think it's because we haven't been that busy with the bad weather. Really, it's easier to work on a busy day than a slow day.....when it's slow at work I sit there and think of a jillion other things that I could be doing at home.
We still have snow on the ground, but it's sunny today and is supposed to warm up this weekend, so I expect it won't be here much longer.
I'm still trying to carve out more time for rug hooking and working on my visual journal as well as dyeing wool. I probably spend way too much time on the computer, but for my creative ventures I just have to be in the "right mood" to enjoy the process. It's nice to get all of the "chores" done so I can truly relax and enjoy the process of creating. However, when I do take the time to create it makes me feel more energized and happy.
How about you? How do you balance your "creative" life and your "real" life? I'd love to hear from you.
The other thing I've been working on is custom dyeing some wool for Cheri in Maine for a flamingo rug that she is going to be hooking. She was so awesome to send all of these swatches of wool and samples of DMC floss to communicate the colors she was wanting me to achieve for her. I've hit most of them head on, but I'm having trouble getting the green colors she likes.....I'm going to give those another shot this weekend.
I find it fun to try and match colors that people want.....I like "figuring things out", but I have to be in the right frame of mind to tackle it. I had a good day the particular day I dyed the colors above.
Now that I got more natural wool in, I'm going to give it another shot with the other colors I still need to achieve.
Have a great Friday!
Go forth and be creative,
Tammy
Tammy, it looks like you did a wonderful job matching her colors. You've really got that dyeing thing down!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I'm sure she'll be pleased.
See you Wednesday. I'm bringing you some art journaling and collage books and a couple of art CD's for your journaling. Mine's coming along. All I have to do now is ebullient and secret. We'll catch up. But then when I look at the girls that have been doing it for years and are really "artists", kind of my me feel inferior. I guess it's our journal so it can't really be Wrong! But mine just seems like more glueing pictures in the book and writing around them. Maybe that's just the way I do it!?!?!? I think I'm putting too many pics and not enough writing. You'll see it soon. call me tomorrow a.m. and maybe come over and rummage through my junk! I even found a bag of quail feathers (the whole wings) a girlfriend gave me!! And all of the old rusty stuff in Mickey's grandfathers tool chest. Boy, there was some cool stuff in there. I thought I might as well have it. The rest of the family doesn't "get it" and would've probably thrown it away. There's a little shed behind the log cabin at Buttermilk Springs on Tablerock lake. That's where all the goodies and rusty stuff is!!!! I think Mickey and his son are going down tomorrow to check on the ooat dock. Hmmmm... I could do some more rummaging! Maybe I better tag along.
