This is what 3 miles on the treadmill looks like….
could my hair be any more sweaty and flat?
My co-worker and friend, Joni, is training for her first
5K, so I’ve decided to “kind of” train with her and we
send each other our times for doing 3 miles…..this was
38min 52 sec for me (at the gym, in the a/c….Joni gets up before
work and runs outside!)
Not too long ago I could jog 5 miles without stopping, but then
I kind of quit doing cardio for a while and now I’m having to
start over from scratch,
but the improvements come weekly.
I’m jogging for 1/4 mile and then walking 1/4 mile….
this week I was able to do some of my jogging at 6mph,
it’s a mental game for me really.
Maybe next week I’ll try to walk 1/4 mile
and then jog 1/2 mile.
I find it easier if I play mind games with myself.
I like listening to podcasts while I run,
it makes the time pass a little faster.
I’m working my way through some of Jillian Michael’s podcasts.
You can get her podcasts HERE.

Last night I watched an episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter”
where she interviewed Olympic gold medal winners.
Can you even imagine being a world class Olympic athlete and having
body image issues?!

I also got in a little hooking with Sandy
and Kelly earlier this week…. (actually it was the same day
I ran) this is them waving
to Patti in Florida via text messaging.
Here is Patti, waving back….
Isn’t technology great?!
I didn’t get gobs of hooking done that night as evidenced by
the picture below….
….but it’s coming along. Can’t wait to finish up the bottom
portion of the rug, so I can start the embellishing on the top!
Cleopatra is healing well, but not really wanting to eat much
of anything…….tonight she gets to skip one of her meds to
see if it is what is squelching her appetite.
Take care
Smart to see if it is the meds which is preventing her from wanting nutrients to nurish her body to heal and live healthy. Hopefully she will gobble up next meal. I will sometimes take the freeze dried liver treats and mince them in the food for interest when Ben thinks it is too hot to eat.
ReplyDeleteBack to the training...... I ran my last 10 K (6.2 miles) at the age of 50 and would train outside after work. I knew the route around my neighborhood and would do incremental increases. And, to get my mind straight I would look ahead at a sign, a tree, a fire hydrant and THAT was my goal (theN). So once achieving that goal I'd focus my eyes on something else and get to that point. Rather than thinking mileage it made it simpler for me and my brain to figure increments and achievement of small parts.
Hope you do well coming back. Oh, BTW, I'm now 70 so don't run any longer.
Saundra
I do not have the drive to run. I wish I did my lazy is my middle name. Hoping your sweet dog gets back on her feet.

ReplyDeleteYou're lookin' fab even with the hair in work-out mode!
Keep up the good work as you'll never regret it in old age! LOL!
Hope the meds get straightened away for Cleopatra and she's feeling like her old self soon! Wish I lived closer to come over and give her a little pat!
Hugs and blessings!
