It’s going to be a glorious day….

…..the sparrows are in rare form today…..chirping,

busy catching bugs to feed to their babies and collecting

grasses to replenish their nests.

Kenny suggested that I change from “Skip To My Ewe” to “Weeping Sparrow”……

” ”Weeping Sparrow” just sounds kind of depressing and sad.” I said.

“no, no”, he replies……” ”Weeping Sparrow”…we have all of these weeping trees

AND sparrows in our garden…”

I’m thinking about it…..

What do you think?

I’ve googled the symbolism of the sparrow and here is

what I’ve found….

I must say I like it!

All too often we take the little Sparrow for granted - small though she may be,

she is certainly powerful. It is her slightness in size that gives her advantages.

She reminds us we do not have to have the big stuff (cars, houses, etc.) to be

important, and we do not have to have the loudest voice in order be heard.

Some keywords/symbolic Sparrow meaning s include:

  • Joy
  • Inclusion
  • Creativity
  • Simplicity
  • Protection
  • Community
  • Productivity
  • Friendliness

Sparrows derive power and protection from their numbers. Always in a clan,

they move in clusters, eat in clusters, and are always content as such. This

can be quite intimidating to some would-be predators. Safety in numbers

is a lesson the Sparrow has to share with us.

The Sparrow is ever vigilant in her goals. She is always bustling for her food,

foraging for her nests, and gathering for her young. Fastidious and productive,

the Sparrow is a reminder that idle hands (and idle minds) should be avoided in

order to live a full, healthy life.

She is a master of flight, and camouflage, and as such the Sparrow teaches us

to use our creativity to get around in life - think outside the box, and be creative

in solving our problems.

from “What’s your Sign”

The sparrows make their nests in the ivy on the edge of

our sunroom as well as around our back door…..I don’t

know how many  nests there  are, but it is always a bevy

of activity and chirping.

Mornings like this are perfect for walking barefoot through

the garden with a cup of coffee in hand.  Sparrows chirping

in the background and dewdrops tickling your toes

.

The lilies are strutting their stuff like showgirls in Vegas.

I don’t know the name of this flower, but it does not want to be

restricted to the flower bed…..

Lonnie loves to lie beneath the tiger’s eye sumac…if he’s

not in the house, this is where you will find him.

The hostas are bigger than ever this year!

The Dutchman’s pipe vine is out of control this year as well

It has ventured past it’s arched trellis and is growing up into

the trees!

Hope your day is glorious!

  1. Loving the garden tour. Does your Dutchman's Pipe bear flowers? I've had one at this house and it get quite over-grown...but I've never seen flowers. Your gardens are spectacular and that pool looks dreamy!

  4. Hi Courtney, the Dutchman's pipe doesn't have flowers.....at least not that I've seen, but they have little things that look like pipes that someone would smoke.....they've already done thei thing, so I don't have any pics of the pipes.

  5. Lauren, Our yard is really not all that big. Kenny just has a gob of stuff planted in it :)
Yes, the pool is nice, but then there is the extra expense. I haven't had to buy any new chemicals "yet" this summer.
