Struggle

It’s been a struggle to blog this week.

Generally, I always have SOMETHING to talk about, but this week I’ve been at a loss.

I think it’s all the changes we’ve had and are still having at work.  My schedule was different this past week….working every day 6:30-2:30 instead of 4 days of 6:30-4:30.

Now, for the coming week I’ll be working everyday from 7:30-12:30….1/2 days, and then the week after that I might not be working at all.

To be honest, I’m looking forward to the extra time off, (I’m hoping to paint our front living room a metallic silver….I’ll be sure to get BEFORE and AFTER shots of that project to share) but it’s all just a little bit unsettling.  Not just the fact that I’ll be off work for a week without pay….I’m a thrifty girl and my husband works, so that is not the true worry.  The true worry is that we (USA) rely on getting medical isotopes from other countries.  The reactors in Canada and the Netherlands are down for repairs and this has not only put “me” in a bind, but the entire medical community. (if you want to read more…click on the picture below)

I have been hooking on the garden rug just a little bit and I started reading “The Art of Racing in the Rain” for the Rug Hooking Daily book club.  I’m really enjoying the book so far.

When I watched “Hachiko” last week with my husband, I cried so much, I felt dehydrated…..it’s out on DVD, so check it out and have a good cry.  Richard Gere and a dog….who could ask for more?!

“Precious” was a really devastating movie, but I watched it…..the acting was fantastic and I had no idea that Mariah Carey played the part of the welfare worker…..talk about a transformation.

Why do I keep going on about these two movies? I think they are movies that “stick with you”.

  1. Tammy,
Thanks for posting this info. As someone who has been on the receiving end of the medical imaging equipment this past year( my Mom with countless heart scans and every kind of imaging scan they have now days) I am amazed to read about this shortage that affects so many, those who depend on it for life saving tests and those who have jobs such as yours in the industry. We should be concerned and aware. Cathy G

  2. You're so right about struggling first, then flying!!! I think that a lot of people I know don't truly appreciate what they have, because they have never had to struggle for it. Know what I mean? Anyways, I do think the changes in schedule are what's affecting your thoughts. Just changing the clocks ahead made for a SUPER fast Monday that just got away with me... I hope things turn around for you at work...

  3. Even though I was already familiar with the story of the loyal Akita, when I watched "Hachiko" this morning, I pretty much cried the entire movie. I had blotches on my face for approximately an hour after it, too. Didn't stop me from buying it though. A wonderful dog story with Richard Gere IS worth purchasing.
