Dimension

I’m still plodding along on the garden rugs……trying new things and trying to add dimension to my hooking.

On this flower I’ve tied knots in the center.

I’m thinking of using cotton cording for the the spiraled stem, but can’t figure out whether I should cover the cording with wool and then attach it to the piece or if I should attach the cording to the piece by couching it with a wool strip…..I’ll let you know what happens.

Also, here are a few pictures of my dogs that I have photo-shopped.  These are considerations for future rugs. You can click on the pics to see larger versions of them if you’d like.

Go forth and be creative,

Tammy

  1. I like the knots in the center of the flower! Great pics of the pups too! For the stem, I'm thinking to attach the cording while wrapping with wool? Not only does that sound easier (to me, LOL) but it might make the stem look more part of the rug? Just some thoughts... it's fun to see folks try some new tcehniques! :-)

  2. Please tell me how you get those pictures to look like that...do you own a fancy version of photoshop? Is it a watercolor or painting effect? Do I need to buy the fancy expensive version of photoshop...or what do you use exactly? Sorry for so many questions...but I would love to use this for my rug designs as well..and I just dont have time to reinvent the wheel when it seems you got it down...thanks so much for your help I really really appreciate it...I am not very techy...is this easy to learn also? 6. Definitely your pooch with his head out of the car window for your next rug! Love the close-up shots of the flowers you are working on. I use photoshop but mine must be a low end version. Would love to know which version you're using too! Great great job on your blog! Gives me inspiration to keep going on mine! Cathy G
