Can you believe this?!!!
I actually saw Kenny's eyes light up like a little boy when he saw this yesterday!
Yes, his banana trees that he's been planting at the beginning of the season and then digging up to overwinter at the end of the season for the past 4-5 years have a big pod hanging from one of them......
we might actually have bananas!!!
Oohh funn!!! Congrats Kenny!!
ReplyDeleteok.. now.. splain to those who aren't in the know... what do you mean by "digging up to overwinter" ? Do you mean he digs them up and keeps them INSIDE the house to keep them from freezing?? LOL and if that's the case how does tht work? You just stuff all those plants in the house??
Sorry if i totally missed the point and went the wrong direction here!! haha!! Trying to understand! :)

He chops them off shorter and then digs them up and puts them in buckets in the garage......so yeah, it's a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what the blooms look like.
Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI do that with dahlias, etc.. But wow that grew BIG!!! That's pretty kewl!! Bet it's from all the tropical weather you are having!
WoW! That's wonderful! I grew a Musa Banana in the House for years but never had any blooms or bananas--just an occasional offshoot that dids when I repotted it. Kenny, you really have a green thumb!
