Mixing it up

My new sofa and a chair will arrive on Saturday, so I’m now planning a little bit more for my dining room “in my mind”.

Here is what I’m currently thinking about…..mixing my rustic dining table with more modern chairs.  What do you think?

Here are a few examples of what I’m looking at.  Do you have a favorite or do you just hate it all and think this is a crazy idea?

  1. I like the last three tables but I'm not quite sure about the chairs though. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I have a rather conservative taste. I'm not very bold when it comes to decor, I'm more into the classic and traditional. There are so many factors that comes into play when decorating and you seem to be doing a great job. JB

  2. I would go for it. I've been thinking about this with my dining room chairs. I have a Jacobean set but I want to modernize it. So I am considering the see-through plexiglass chairs from IKEA. I think it looks great.

  3. I love the lines of the chairs in the DESIGN FILE photos. There is something sexy and quirky about those chairs. The lines of the legs make you take a 2nd and third look ----- and that, Tammy, pretty much sums up you. When you meet you --- you know you have a lovely woman standing in front of you --- but instantly, you know there is so much more to the package. That's how I always look at pictures of your home. You and Kenny have made it strikingly beautiful, but it's when you take that 2nd look that you really see all the factors that make the house a home. Those chairs just convey that thought. Stay with your quirkiness! That's what makes you and Kenny so spectacular and fun. My 2 cents............

  4. I love the modern with the old -- it just would be hard to pick which one. Good luck!

  5. I LUV option number one. Rustic table, upholstered settee, and those metal chairs are to die for. I've heard they are sooo comfortable too. Maybe a settee like mine I got at a garage sale. A simple one ought to be easy enough to find.
I know you'll come up with something perfect!
