It's all white

....but not in rug hooking.
Most of the time WHITE can just look, well, too WHITE!
Today I grabbed up an old issue of Rug Hooking Magazine and dyed a few "whites" from the recipes of Wanda Kerr.
Some recipes I didn't have the correct colors that the recipe called for so I just winged it and threw in what I had that was close.
These are my favorites.
Lemon Chiffon

Dirty Sheep

White Pepper

I also dyed a few more things today....I'll share those with you later on.

Wool-a-palooza continues!

Yes, I'm serious about clearing space! I've been collecting wool for 8-9 years now and I just need to do some clearing and re-think how I use my space in my hooking room.

So serious in fact that I'm starting GOBS of auctions at just 99 cents....some of the auctions are for GOBS of wool....some are hand-dyed collections.....I've just GOT to move some STUFF!

Click on the picture to go to the auctions.

Have fun!

Lonnie checking out the yard

We are having a rainy day here today......I'm learning how to take videos with my camera, so here is a video of Lonnie checking out his new backyard the day we brought him home.
Thanks for indulging me :)

Wool-a-palooza!

With an ever-expanding family I've got to clear more space......I've started a 99 cent auction on eBay.....stop by and check it out. If you are local to the Springfield, Missouri area.....if you win it, you can pick it up locally and save yourself the shipping!
Click here to check it out!

He's here!

Lonnie is here!!! And he's glorious!!!!

First off.....a big THANK YOU to Lonnie's foster mom, Judi.

Truly an angel on earth! Such kindness, compassion and love for the dogs she fosters until they find their forever homes.

(art by Dean Russo)

When we first went to pick him up we thought we would want to change his name to perhaps Julius or Augustus or Conway, but after meeting him he is definitely keeping his name of Lonnie......Lonnie the Lover.

On the way home he spread his time between being in the back seat with me and then delicately making his way up to lay in the passenger seat next to Kenny

Our biggest anxiety was wondering how he would get along with Cleopatra. She has become quite the princess since we lost Big Truvy.

Their initial meeting went quite well. They had a little interest in each other and at least didn't hate each other.

After his first long day, he was tuckered out and fell asleep on the loveseat and then moved on to sleep on the bunkbed.

In the middle of the night he came into our room and nestled himself in between us and then in the morning, after I was up making coffee, Cleopatra hopped up on the bed too.......so far so good!

I've been watching

this little guy.
Someone threw him out of a moving car.
How can people be so mean?!
I hope he finds a home soon......he just looks like he has so much love to give.
Click on his picture to find out more about him.

How exciting!

Every once in a while I check back on the dogs I've featured on my blog and I'm happy to say that Yahoo has an adoption pending. I hope this is his forever home!!!

Kaboodles of bassets

Yesterday we went to the 15th annual "Gathering of the Bassets" at Phelps Grove park.
(Cleopatra making a friend)

It is always so much fun to see all of the other dogs and prizes were given for costumes and tricks. Aren't these adorable.....3 bassets dressed as characters from the Wizard of Oz!!!

Cleopatra didn't have a costume, but there was a table with "free" costumes, so we grabbed one and put it on her........she ended up winning a prize....she was so excited!!!
She had so much fun and met sooooo many bassets and their owners.....but after about 45 minutes in the hot humid weather we had yesterday, she was too tuckered out to walk back to the car.

Luckily she had Kenny to carry her back.

Does he like the water?

We have an inground pool in our backyard, so I asked Lonnie's foster mom if he liked or disliked the water. She said she had a friend with a pool so she took him over tonight and it looks like he doesn't have much interest in the pool.....that's a good thing!

a brother?

After lots and lots of searching....
we may have found a companion for Cleopatra......
This is Lonnie. He is currently in foster care in Arkansas.
His foster parents say he is really sweet and laid back....he sure looks like he is!

For the cat lovers out there!

And I know there are a lot of you!

This is a rug hooked by Lily Mayfield.

She is the step-daughter of Dulcy from Dulcy's Doorstep.

I love the colors she used and how she made this into a piece you could keep out all the time, because to be honest, when I saw the pattern, I thought of Halloween.

Isn't it fun how people see patterns that are black and white in different colors in their mind?! I think that is one of the things I like the best about hooking!

The pattern is from Angela at Breezy Ridge Rugs....she mainly sells on eBay or you could contact her directly if you are interested in this pattern.

And to keep with our cat theme today, I'm sharing this little lady with you who needs a home. Her coloring and attitude seem to fit with the cat on the rug!

Her name is Ginger....pretty name!

To find out more about her click on her picture.
