Letting Go

Sometimes we have to let go of things in order to move forward.  In the past year or two I’ve let go of my eBay store, “Skip To My Ewe” , and turned it over full time to my good friend, Renee,  who is doing a wonderful job with it.

I’ve let go of my Etsy store as well.

During the past month I’ve also let go of my hooking group at Simply Fibers and put my wool business on the back burner for a while.

I love creating, whether it’s starting up a little business, creating rugs, making gifts, decorating, cooking or what have you.  The rug hooking business became more successful than I was able to handle and it was leaving me very little time for me to express myself in the many other ways that I like.

Today I’m going to venture forth and try to create some fruitcakes for the holidays as well as doing a bit more holiday decorating. I’m loving the extra time I have to revel in new adventures…it makes me feel fresh….I was starting to feel stale.

“Letting Go”

( image from Sascalia…see more of her art here)

To “let go” does not mean to stop caring; it
means I can’t do it for someone else.

To “let go” is not to cut myself off; it’s the
realization I can’t control another.

To “let go” is not enable, but to allow
learning from natural consequences.

To “let go” is to admit powerlessness, which
means the outcome is not in my hands.

To “let go” is not to try to change or blame
another, it’s to make the most of myself.

To “let go” is not to care for, but to care about.

To “let go” is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To “let go” is not to judge, but to allow another
to be a human being.

To “let go” is not to be in the middle, arranging
all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect
their own destinies.

To “let go” is not to be protective, it’s to permit
another to face reality.

To “let go” is not to deny, but to accept.

To “let go” is not to nag, scold, or argue, but
instead to search out my own shortcomings
and correct them.

To “let go” is not to adjust everything to my
desires, but to take each day as it comes and
cherish myself in it.

To “let go” is not the regret the past, but to
grow and live for the future.

To “let go” is to fear less and love more.

  2. Fruit Cake???? Tammy, you have to let us all know how that turns out! Fruit cake is something I have never, ever, taken on! Mostly because I have never, ever liked it! Only a very few times anyway!

I have to agree that cooking is a wonderful expression of creativity! And, I am doing a first this year too...cooking Prime Rib! There's a cool little neighborhood grocery store in Neosho called Family Market ( worth the drive if your anywhere close)that has an awesome meat counter with a real butcher. They are ordering aged Prime Rib this Christmas...my Mom told the owner, we had not cooked one before, so here he comes out to the car to tell me how to cook it! Aw, the joy of a small town....

  4. Good for you Tammy, there is nothing wrong with reorganizing priorities.
Best of wishes. Have fun with that fruit cake. I remember much liquor being poured on them as they mellowed.
