Garden walk-about

If I were a savvy blogger, I’d space these pictures out over

several days.  I think I took these 2 days ago and I’m just now

finding time to sit down and share them.

I feel so blessed to have this sanctuary in  my backyard.

Fortunate to be able to amble about the garden and take pictures

from different perspectives.

The water drops are not from rain…..Kenny spends hours watering.

The daylilies are spectacular right now!

This year, Kenny has added some chippy little pottery birds to one of the

trees…..sweet!

The coneflowers are still my favorite….makes me think of party girls and

fun dresses!

This is the new herb garden outside our back door….Kenny

made the trough a few years ago….chives, spicy oregano,

Thai basil, cilantro, Vietnamese cilantro…….yum!

I’ve had a few people ask how much land we have…..we live in

an older neighborhood and we have an average sized back yard.

Much of it is taken up by the pool, a deck out back and a shed….other than

that, just about every available surface is planted with SOMETHING!

We do have a bit of grass and it takes about 5-8 minutes to push mow it….

Where I’m at, at the moment

This weekend I ran on high octane and I ran on that
until Sunday

…… now I’ve been running on fumes.

I’ve learned there is a reason I don’t stay out and party
with my friends until 4 or 5 am anymore…… it takes me
days to recover!

(thank goodness for my Monday night yoga class)
Especially when I do it two nights
in a row…..but I will say one thing…..it was totally worth it!

Seeing people I honestly hadn’t seen in the 25 years since
we had graduated was incredible….seeing people, jumping, hugging,
squealing….yep, that was me.

Had we changed…..yes
Had we stayed the same….yes

To all of the people who encouraged me to attend…..

I’ll be back to my “non-reunion” blogging soon.

Blast from the past

The last 2 evenings I’ve stayed out until the wee hours of the morning

catching up with my classmates from the class of 1986…….all I can say is

“good times”

(Me and Kenny)

I’m not putting names on the rest of the pictures, mainly because if you

were at the reunion you will know who these people are.  If you were not at

the reunion or didn’t go to high school with me or are not related to me, most

likely you don’t care who these people are.  I know some of my classmates

like to stay on the down-low with their internet presence. Hopefully the pictures

capture the essence of the last 2 nights.

Looking forward and looking back

The installation of the new furnace and a/c are continuing today.

The hot water heater is out

Here are pics of the inside of the furnace before they cut it out….

yes, they had to cut it out because it was larger than the door….

how does that happen? I have no idea….it’s an old house…

I don’t have a clue what this is, but it looks like little doors

to somewhere….

The new stuff in boxes

Here is the fencing that hides the pool filter and the a/c

See how the a/c sits on the other side of the pool filter?  Well, here is

the old a/c partially taken apart…..so far the fence has not had to

come down.

I’m off work, but pretty much stuck at home having to quarantine

the dogs to smaller quarters while the work is being done.

Therefore, today I’ve decided I will finish the book I’ve started

and try to get a little hooking done on the Redbud Runner.

Later today I’m heading out to get an air-brushed tan…..my 25 year

high school reunion is on Saturday,

but there is a casual get together on Friday night.  So far this year I’ve managed

to get a farmer’s tan, so I need a little evening up in the tan department…..

plus the lower parts of my legs seem to never get tan unless I just bake myself

and I’m sooo beyond baking

myself in the sun these days.

Wonder if people will think I’ve changed?

(junior year class attendant during basketball season)

(junior year, played snare drum in an all girls Scottish drum and bugle

corp, “The Highlanders”.  This was taken at the Rolla St. Pat’s parade.

I remember because the Clydesdale was from a Anheuser Busch float)

I went from K-12 with a LOT of people and many others just for the 4 years

that we were together in high school…..can’t wait!

My ordinary life

Remember when I told you that our a/c died?

Well, today they are starting the new installation……

new furnace (the fan was bad….we decided to

replace the entire furnace since it was installed in

1976….they say we’ll save at least $50/month with this

new one, plus our utility company has a rebate when you install energy efficient gas

furnaces),  new a/c….the works.

Of course living in an older house, nothing is ever easy

and straight-forward.

The furnace sits back in the corner in this closet….

Here is the problem…..they have to remove the hot water

heater to get the old furnace out and the new one in.

Like I said…nothing in this house is ever straight-forward

and easy. I’ll post later with pics of the a/c…..sorry I’m not more

interesting today……

They are either going to have to lift the old a/c over our pool pump or

take down part of our fence…..yes, really.

This is a pic of the gift I gave Kenny for our anniversary.

It’s called an ikebana…..I bought it at a little gallery in

Eureka Springs, AR when I was down there last weekend…..this is his

first creation he made for it.

Oh yeah, what did you have for breakfast?

This morning I had oatmeal with strawberry protein powder,

walnuts and blueberries……I’m having this tomorrow….one of my favorites

…whole wheat bread with natural peanut butter and sliced strawberries.
