Being Present

I didn't realize just how long it had been since I had written in my blog.....obviously it's been a bit. I have so much to share and will do so, most likely, later in the day.

You see, I've been trying to be more mindful of being "present" in what I do. I have "multi-tasked" for years and I don't know that it has REALLY been serving me all that well. Yes, I get a lot done, but at what cost?

The last 2 weeks I've been trying to be "fully" there when I'm doing something and I've decided that I'm liking the results. I may not be getting as much accomplished as I'm used to but when I'm with my family I'm "with" them.....my mind is not racing on 10 other things I need to be doing. When I sit and hook it's almost meditative and when I was wrapping packages I really enjoyed the process instead of thinking...."I need to get this done so I can do x,y,z".
So, if you find my posts more random than they were before you will know that I'm fully in the moment of doing something else.

Go forth and be creative,

Tammy

  1. Hey Tammy...wow...you so hit the nail on the head with this one! I know exactly what you mean...and sometimes, though not as often as I should, I take the time to really enjoy what I am doing without thinking on what I next need to do. It makes so much sense that it's ridiculous that we need to really think about doing it. I think part of the problem...especially in these days...we all have so much to do - or want to do - that we are constantly fretting about not getting done everything. So, you are absolutely in the right place when you are 'in the moment'. Good for you!

  2. Your post is so appropriate, especially for this time of the year. We all have so many things that we"should" be doing that we seldom take the time to focus on them. And that also means that whatever we are doing is poor work. We do need to slow down and pay attention. After all, we were not given this life to zoom through...but to enjoy and learn from. Thanks for the reminder! Have a Happy New Year!

  3. I have a quote for you that I just ran into when I discovered a women's quotation calender I forgot I had. Here's how it goes:

"You need not feel guilty about not being able to keep your life perfectly balanced. Juggling everything is too difficult. All you relaly need to do is catch it before it hits the floor!"

  5. PERFECT!!!
I am so happy that you have reached this place in your life! We ALL need to! And you said it so eloquently!
The last few weeks, I have been trying to embrace each moment and not let my mind wonder to all the other stuff that needs attention. If I get to it - great. If not, fine! That is the hardest part! But like Lauri said - we weren't given this life to see how much we can accomplish!
My most favorite days and times are when i live with abandon, enjoying the moment, without a set agenda. THOSE are the moments we are free to be US and the moments we remember!!
Good to hear from you - even better to hear you are living and loving your life Tammers!
    xoxo bren
