Those things in the cabinet you never use....

...what's up with that?

For some reason it seems that there are always things in our kitchen cabinets that remain on the shelf.

Well, today I'm headed to the grocery to pick up a few more things to go with these so I can make these items for tonight.

I'm serving this with some "fiesta lime chicken breast" that has been lurking in the freezer for a while now.
For dessert I'm making this:
Tropical Fruit Trifle

Wish me luck!

New Banners!

I'm excited to have a new banner here on my blog and also over at my Etsy store!!!
I made the one here on my blog and the one at my Etsy store was made by

at Etsy....I just love it!!!

I realized that I haven't been sharing many hooking pictures lately....yes, I'm still hooking away!!!

Here is a wonderful rug that I've enjoyed through the Christmas season this year. It's a wonderful pattern from Kathy Clark at

It is called "Gentle Friends" and it was a joy to hook!!!

I started hooking it back HERE and as you can see I changed up my colors before I was finished....I seem to do that a lot!!!

I've also finished hooking the "Kittens and Hearts" rug that I started back HERE....it just needs the binding put on....hope to get to that soon!

Today I hope to put more STASH REDUCTION wools in my Etsy store and dye up a bit of wool and yarn for Billie.....so much I want to do today and I have a nice chilly day to do it!!!

Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!

I always feel like I'm behind, but this coming year I'm going to try and be ahead of the game for the holidays!!!

In honor of that wish I've listed a prodded Valentine mat on eBay tonight. I made this last year out of selvedge edges of wool....a true "make-do" primitive rug. So squishy and soft....I just love it!!!

The great stash reduction!

SOLD-Pretty Pinks-SOLD
THANK YOU
SOLD-Gold collection-SOLD
THANK YOU

Okay, I've had to admit to myself that I have too much wool to organize!!!

I'm talking all of those odd shaped bits and pieces left over from projects and bits of recycled wools that I've collected over the years.

I'm spending this afternoon listing them in bundles in my Etsy store, so take a look and see if there is something that you need.

If you are one of my local students/rug hookers/crafters I can make these available for pick-up at Simply Fibers in Springfield, MO if you'd like.

Who knows...there will probably be other items that I'll put in the etsy store as well.

Check back often.

Today's great "TO DO" list!

Feeling in the mood to blog today!

Here is today's great "TO DO" list.....

hope that by the end of the day I can say...

"TA DA" did it all!!!

1. pick out fabric for purse lining and also pick up purse feet

2. pick up gift tags....hoping to make some crafty creative ones!

3. wrap packages

4. drop Christmas packages by Simply Fibers for friends and straighten up the woolies

5. pick up a few last minute GC's (gift certificates) that I was planning on doing and then got sick

6. take Cleopatra for a walk (this is not really a "to do" but rather a gift to myself and her....one of the most enjoyable parts of my day)

7. make some sort of Christmas goodie....

Random thoughts on a Saturday morning

Good to be back! I've been out of a commission for a while....sick....yes, I think this picture here will give you an idea of how much time I've spent in bed......

Pretty scary huh?!

However, I have an entire little pharmacy set up now and I'm feeling SO MUCH BETTER!!!

Good enough that I think this morning I'd best get cracking on this "Tennessee Posies" purse that I'm going to be giving my grandma for Christmas....I'm glad she's a pink girl like me!!! Just a bit more to hook and then I'm going out this morning to pick out fabric for the lining....can you believe I just had this little bit left to hook and didn't even feel like hooking that little bitty bit these past few days?

All I've done is lay in bed and watch reality TV....one day I watched the entire season of Top Chef....and the best part is....I didn't even get hungry!!! That's when Kenny KNOWS I'm sick....when I'm not interested in food!!! That is a rare occasion for me!

Speaking of of food....here are a few little pics of Christmas things in our kitchen. I love this little vignette that someone made years ago....a little shadow box that we saw in a flea market one day and just HAD TO HAVE!!!

And here are pics of the gingerbread family that hangs in our kitchen. Made by Kenny's mom several years ago.....yes, he comes from a crafty family....they are made out of sewn paper grocery bags....me thinks this would be a fun craft to make if you have little kids...you could have them cut them out and decorate them and then all you have to do is sew them up and stuff them!!

Cute, cute, cute!!!

Oh yeah, for those of you who are like me and send out lots of packages and receive lots of packages in the mail....don't forget your mail carrier at Christmas time!!!

Yoo Hoo.....

If you'd like to hear a great rendition of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" be sure to click on my video over to the right to listen along as you read.
(garden stepping stone from Steve Hess)
Especially when it's icy and rainy outside. Oh my gosh.....can I just say how lucky we are that it is not sticking to the streets.....mainly raining now, but it's quite a mess and will probably just get messier as the temps drop tonight.

Just popping in to say hi!

I've been a bit neglectful of my blog lately......when I try to figure out why I haven't been on here.....

....well...

....I guess I've just been busy living my life....

....work has been busy as usual...

I've had a new group of students who have started rotating through out nuclear cardiology lab, so that has totally left me with NO computer time at work.

....and then you throw in some Christmas decorating at home....

.....Christmas shopping and making.....

....dreaming up new projects.....

....and finishing the ones that are "in progress" and it seems like there just hasn't been much computer time lately.

If you need some last minute gift ideas, here are a few handmade things that I think are just great!

Just click on the pictures to go to that item.

Ever changing

Is it driving you as crazy as it is me?

I keep changing the background colors of my blog....just can't seem to find a color scheme that I'm happy with.

Christmas in bloom

Yes, they are everywhere and they are so beautiful! For those of you who have followed my blog for a while now, you know that my husband, Kenny, is a psycho gardener. He is passionate about plants like I'm passionate about wool....yes we are both addicts!!!
Right now the Christmas cactus' are in full bloom and he has them set out all over the house....truly beautiful!
The one above is on the island in the kitchen.
This one below is in the den....I've decided that at night our home must have a yellow glow to it....all of these pics were taken last night.

This one here, in my opinion, is the most beautiful. It graces our dining room table along with Kenny's collection of antique Christmas tree stands.

I think this is one of the smallest ones....it sits on the divider between the kitchen and den. Oh yeah, have I told you about Kenny's fascination with glittering everything for the holidays? This is his glittered card holder that he made from an old cigar box...yes, he's very creative!!!

Decopauge and glitter....amazing how it can transform something ordinary into something extraordinary!
