The simple things

Hint....this is better read with today's music from Madonna on the left...click on it and you can hear music while you read.

I've realized that it's the simple things in life that make me happy.......

...an early morning game of ball with Cleopatra.....sometimes she brings the ball back to be thrown again and sometimes she just likes to be chased.....this morning she wanted to play chase!!!

Finishing up an experimental knitting project that I started months ago....

Just tooling around town with a friend and running across Halloween sights such as this....

So now I started thinking....these are not THINGS....these are moments.....

Go forth and cherish simple moments,

Retail therapy

I truly know that buying "stuff" is not a good way to cope with grief, but while shopping for my niece's birthday gift at Target I just couldn't resist these shirts....and at just $5-7....it is totally in my budget.

I'm going to wear this crow shirt to my niece's birthday party today....probably with a long sleeved t-shirt underneath...yes, it's finally starting to cool off here in the Midwest.....thank goodness!
Add some low rise jeans and kickin' pointy boots and it's a hip/casual ensemble.

Then I also got these to wear closer to Christmas....I know, it will be here before we know it and I haven't started shopping yet.

yes....these were just $5 each and chock full of bling!!!

Here is the bag of goodies that I'm taking to Madison today.....so girly and frou-frou!!! Don't forget....it's all about the presentation!

A heavy heart

I don't even know where to start........

my best-est buddy,

my foot warmer,

giver of endless amounts of love,

running after squirrels and rabbits

and my goofiest dog ever is no longer here.

I'm just so angry and sad.

I know we did the right thing, but doing the right thing doesn't make it hurt any less.

I was told it was tonsilitis and an upper respiratory infection.......

but she just was NOT getting any better.....

.....she's such a young dog....just 2.

Then we went for a second opinion and her x-rays had gotten soooo much worse in just a weeks time......

....cancer....

spread all through her lungs.

Tumors the size of her heart.

Poor baby....moaning, uncomfortable, not eating...

it was time to send her to a better place.

I will never forget you Truvy.

Harvest pillow

Another pillow!
This one is prodded with all of the colors of the harvest. I just love prodding! The ripping of the wool, working this out on my lap rather than a frame...seeing it progress so quickly and use up so much of the odd pieces of wools from old projects and lots of my recycled stash!
My husband loves this pillow so I will be making more. This one is headed to eBay!
SOLD!
THANK YOU!

Now it's on to the next creation!

Garland!

Oops! I did it AGAIN!

I fell in love with yet another pattern by Maria of Star Rug Company!!!
This is Miss Matilda and I just love the way she turned out!
Yes, the fascination with making pillows continues!
I tried to hook her in colors that my niece, Madison, who just turned 9, will love. Her favorite colors used to be pink and purple, but recently she informed me that now her favorite colors are orange and black. No pink in this but I hit all of the other colors!
I think from the back you can appreciate how BRIGHT that orange really is....almost neon!!

Autumn in the Ozarks

Autumn here in the Ozarks can be quite spectacular......crisp air, fall leaves swirling about your feet as you walk...the first smells of smoke coming from the chimney.

I love autumn and wanted to commemorate those feelings with this pillow.

Yes, it's a bit outside the box....definitely nothing boxy here.

I love it's organic free form shape.

It is now available on eBay here.

Things Can Only Get Better

Well, after some really worrisome times this past two weeks I think that Big Truvy is on the mend....keeping my fingers crossed. She is now on her 3rd antibiotic. The first medicine made her really sick so the vet switched her to a different antibiotic....after 10 days she still was not getting any better.

I took her back to the Dr. yesterday and they took chest x-rays and she has a bunch of junk in the bottom part of her right lung. The vet said it looked "worrisome" and he did some blood work. They called me this morning to let me know that her white cell count was really high and they wanted to put her on a full spectrum antibiotic that was a bit stronger......oh yeah, did I mention that she also got an antibiotic shot while she was there yesterday.

Poor T.

I'm taking her in again this afternoon for them to draw more blood to see if it might be some sort of rare fungal pneumonia.

This all started out as tonsilitis and upper respiratory tract infection.

The good news is that she has kept some food down today.....1 chicken jerky strip and one teeny small jar of chicken baby food....poor girl....she just hates to see me coming because I am constantly having to push pills down her throat and each new pill is bigger than the last.

Then there is Cleopatra....bless her heart....what a great big sister....she has been so nice to stay near by and just play with her ball or take a nap.

My husband has gone to St. Louis today to visit our niece, Nicole. She is out of her coma but still in intensive care and they want lots of people visiting her to kind of rouse her about.

In the midst of all this to help me keep my sanity I have been working on a couple of hooked projects. Here are a couple of teaser photos....I will post "real" pics of them in a few days when they are finished.

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers for my niece and my dog,

Tammy

Look what folks are doing with our wools!

It always tickles me to see what people do with the wools that they buy from our eBay store.

Here are some beautiful pincushions from Mrs. B at Bluebird*Mountain using our wools.
I just love how she puts together the wools and pins and embellishments. What a great gift these would make for yourself or your favorite sewer!

I love to see what everyone makes from the wools that they purchase, so don't be shy.....send me a picture!!!

Downward Spiral of Life and Leaves

Do you ever feel like your life is spinning out of control....things are on a downward spiral? I guess we can't appreciate the ups without somedowns.

Sorry I haven't been blogging much recently. I've had so much going on (I know...don't we all?)

Last weekend I participated in a 3-day craft show and in the midst of all that my big baby Truvy came down with tonsilitis and an upper respiratory infection....coughing all night and lots of "getting sick".....cleaning up rugs, washing bedspreads, giving her pills....get the picture? She just looks so sad when she doesn't feel good :(

In the picture above I think she was looking at some squirrels and wishing she felt good enough to give them a good chase.

I'd also like to ask a favor of you to send positive energy and thoughts and prayers to my niece, Nicole, who is in a coma from a motorcycle wreck on Saturday night. My husband has just left to drive to St. Louis to see her while I stay home with Truvy and Cleopatra and keep trying different medication combos with Truvy. She's only 22 so we are praying that her youth and strength will pull her through, but prayers and good thoughts never hurt either.

On the brighter side of my life I've picked out all of my appliances for the kitchen remodeling project and have been working on a few original items. The first item is a hand dyed wool "Oak Leaves Scarf" that I hope to have on eBay later this evening. It has beautiful colors of pumpkin, butternut and tendril with oak leaves needle felted to the ends. I think it looks marvelous and artsy with a black turtleneck!
